 GED - General Educational Development 

Do you need a diploma? 

We offer classes to help you pass the GED!


Candidates who successfully pass the GED exams are issued a State of Florida High School Diploma through the Florida Department of Education. With it you can go on to career or vocational education, college, join the armed services, and obtain employment.

 GED Class Information

Our General Educational Development classes serve adults ages 18 and older (and 16-17 year olds eligible for an age waiver) who wish to take the GED exams.

 Entrance Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Score 9.0 or higher on D or A level TABE TEST
  • Have reliable transportation or be able to take the city bus 


*16-17 year old WAIVER Program

This special program is available to qualifying 16 and 17-year-old students on our main campus and our Bartow site during daytime class hours. Students must attend day classes regularly and abide by Polk County School Board Code of Conduct to stay eligible.  Once a student completes all of the course requirements and passes the program exit exams, they will be issued an age waiver which will allow them to take the GED exams before turning 18 years of age.

The GED is available in either English, Spanish or French. A request to take the exam in Spanish or French must be made at the time of registration.  To register for the exams, go to www.ged.com and create your personalized account.
